Dance
For the 17th of March the Relief Society sisters had a party and dance. Sister Jones and Sister Dahl were guests of honor. Sister Dahl is the wife of a missionary doctor who travels to all missions in the Pacific Islands and checks the health status of the missionaries. They just happened to be on Majuro this day and flew out the next day.

Guess where Karlene was today?
I'm sorry I couldn't make it over to the Majuro Atoll today. I was too busy on the Jaluit Atoll.

Tourists
Wade and Angel are here!! What a surprise it was for their parents. President Bleak got Wade and Angel into his office without Lavon and Colleen knowing it and then asked Elder and Sister Randall to come into his office to discuss a matter and there sat Wade and Angel on the couch. Colleen let out a squeal and Lavon about passed out. It was a wonderful reunion. The Randall's agenda for the day has drastically changed!! We hear Addie is doing better. We are still praying often for her. Oh, I almost forgot. Angel delivered the checkbook to us. Thanks, Mo. Also, Wade and Angel's luggage is still in Hawaii. Hopefully it gets here on the next flight. Keep in touch.

Chicago
What an eventful day I've had. I'm in Chicago where St. Patrick's day is a highly celebrated holiday. Here I am decked out in my green gear in front of the Chicago river. This is before it was dyed.
This is during. There is a plumbing company that uses 40 pounds of something orange to dye the river green every year.
And here are Tara and I after the dyeing. Following the dyeing we walked to the St. Patrick's day parade. And finally we went on a river cruise down the river. We were served Corned beef and cabbage. YUM! I can't even begin to explain how cold it was on the river. I'm used to cold weather and usually I don't get cold but today was an exception. I was happy to get back to the hotel for a nice hot shower.

Greenies
Mo sent us all this green stuff because she said we were "greenies". We have been here long enough and with our first transfer, we do not consider ourselves greenies anymore so we will not be wearing this again unless we go to a 17th of March Relief Society party with it on.
This shows Elder Jones explaining to Sister Jesse, the Ajeltake Primary President, about the Church News and giving her a copy to read. Even though the paper is in English, they like to get a copy and look at it. Some can read good enough English to understand it.
This shows Elder Jones with most of the students in the Laura institute class. The older woman in the front is Sister Harry. She teaches seminary here and has a great family. The older man in the back is Brother Gideon Lang. He is a returned missionary and is a high councilman in the Majuro District.

Adventures on P-day
For P-day yesterday we went island hopping. Many of the islets of this atoll are separated by narrow necks of ocean water. When the tide is down you can walk on the coral reef from island to island. You just have to get back before the tide comes back in. This picture shows several sister missionaries standing on the coral reef as we are heading to the third island out from the "mainland".
Sister Jones and Sister Bwakatii on the coral reef. Sister Bwakatii is one of the missionaries we made friends with in the MTC and she got here a week after we did. She is pretty shy so she sticks pretty close to Sister Jones whenever we are together.
These school kids in their school uniforms came out on the reef to greet us as we approached their island. They are friendly and can speak a little English.
This shows the school kids with Elder Simmons. Elder and Sister Simmons are the CES couple. They work with the Seminary and Institute programs in the branches. They are from Idaho. Elder Simmons and I hassle each other about Idaho potatoes versus Enterprise potatoes. He doesn't understand the logic of my position.
This shows the Ejit school kids lining up after recess to go back to class. Karlene could teach here but I don't know what the pay would be. The people living on Ejit were relocated here from Bikini atoll and Kili atoll during the testing of nuclear bombs on those islands in the 1950's. They want to go back but the radiation levels are still unsafe.
Although we don't look stupid in this picture, do not be deceived. This was taken during our island hopping walk on the reef. You will notice we are not wearing hats, nor do we have any sunscreen on. In fact, we don't even have an adequate water supply. We paid a price for our lack of intelligence. Sister Jones is being treated by Elder Jones for a sunburned neck. The treatment consists of ice cubes wrapped in a towel around her neck. We have not found any aloe vera plants on the island.
