Sister Bwakatii

This is Sister Bwakatii from Kiribati. We met her in the MTC and she has become our adopted granddaughter. She was struggling in the beginning but is doing well now. This was taken at a baptismal service in Laura.

Another beautiful sunset in the islands

Sunset out in Laura, taken on the way to a baptism.

Surrounded by Water

Looking down on the red roof of the Chinese Embassey you can see the water of the ocean on the left and water of the lagoon on the right. This shows how narrow this island atoll really is.

Still More Haircuts

4 of the 6 sisters that got their haircut in the Rita branch. Elder Jones reported on the phone that including these haircuts Sister Jones has done 94 haircuts since arriving in the islands.

Blast from the Past

Where were you two headed? This was preparation for the Marshall Islands all those years ago.

More Haircuts

Sister Jones cut these five girls hair. They all had long hair. When they were done we filled a grocery sack with their hair.

Over mountain or plain or SEA....

I'll go where you want me to go.

Haircutting Marathon

This haircutting marathon was held at Long Island. Sister Jones cut eight sisters hair today.

Baptism of Brother Jennet

Sometimes being big and fat is a blessing. In my case, this time it was. The missionaries who taught this brother didn't want to try baptizing him because he weighs 280 pounds. So they asked if I would do it. It was an adventure but we made it on the first try. His name is
Leander B Jennet.

These are the missionaries that taught Brother Jennet. They are Elder Jones, Elder Nickl, and Elder Kumar.

Ladie and Frances

We are seeing our friends off at the airport. This is Ladie and Frances, our first landlords. They are heading to Seattle for a month to see all of their kids there.

Ladie and Frances at the airport. He makes his living as a fisherman. He has two boats and sends them out about 5 days a week. Some guys work for him and they fish with poles and catch the fish one at a time. They usually catch three huge ice chests full each day.

Morgue

This shows Sister Jones in the hospital morgue preparing the body of President Tibon's mother for burial. She is an endowed member so Sister Jones and some Relief Society sisters dressed her in her temple clothes.
